Just a reminder that this weekend (Feb. 13 to 16), the Great Backyard Bird Count is taking place across North America. It serves to create a real-time snapshot of where the birds across the continent are this weekend. You basically just observe the birds at your feeder – or wherever you happen to be – for a minimum of 15 minutes and submit the results on-line. There are all kinds of different maps on the website broken down by species, region, etc. They show the results almost in real time. You can go back and look at previous years’ results, too. Go to /www.birdsource.org/gbbc/ for the details.
