Snowfleas (springtails) Mass Nature photo

Snowfleas (springtails) in deer track – Mass Nature photo

Last Friday afternoon, I finally got down to Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area to walk a cooped-up rambunctious canine who’s been deprived of getting out and about and enjoying sniffs for about 3 weeks now. The main route towards the sugarbush is walkable and we went down as far as the creek. Along the way snowfleas (okay, springtails) were widely scattered, and there was one spider walking over the snow. I stopped and watched to see if the spider was hunting the snowfleas, but it trodded over 4 of them without bothering with them.
