In late May, we had a male (I think) American Robin in our backyard that’s constantly feeding a pair of Common Grackle chicks. The robin does not have chicks of its own, nor does its mate seem to be involved with the feeding. One bird species essentially raising/feeding the young of another species is something I’ve never seen before, except in the case of baby Brown-headed Cowbirds. I haven’t been able to find anything to explain this by doing a Google search. Drew Monkman
