Just read your tweet about bird – window collisions. Our dining room and living room windows line up exactly, with bird feeders outside the dining room window. Last fall two white-crowned sparrows killed themselves on the living room windows, and we’d had frequent non-fatal collisions on the dining room windows. So here’s what we did with some window screen material from Home Hardware, some bamboo stakes, and a bit of ingenuity. It’s a bit ugly viewed on the angle, but almost invisible from straight ahead and from inside the house. I was worried that it wouldn’t survive the winter, but it did, and there were numerous occasions when birds caught sight of it at the last minute and brushed into it while changing course.
